Why visit
Osaka?

Osaka is where Japan loosens its tie. The people are warmer, the humour earthier and the food obsession more intense than anywhere else in the country. Osakans literally have a saying — 'kuidaore' — that translates as 'eat yourself bankrupt.'

The neon chaos of Dotonbori, Osaka Castle rising from its moat, Universal Studios Japan and easy day trips to Kyoto and Nara make Osaka the ideal base for exploring western Japan. A city that exceeds every expectation.

When to Visit Osaka & How to Get Around

Best Time to Visit

March–May is cherry blossom season — Osaka Castle Park is one of Japan's finest spots for hanami (flower viewing) picnics. Book accommodation months in advance.

October–November brings autumn colours to Osaka Castle's grounds and Minoo Park. Temperatures are ideal (15–22°C) and crowds are lighter than spring.

June–September is hot and very humid (28–35°C). Summer festivals (matsuri) are spectacular but the heat can be overwhelming. Indoor attractions are a relief.
